Tip #3 How to Cut Your Power Bill

Tip#3 – Cook Outside

This one seems pretty obvious, but there is  very little cooking inside my house in 100 degree heat. It is counterproductive to what that gigantic machine the side of your house drawing 220 amps and emitting all that noise pollution is trying to do;  keeping  your home cool!

Cooking outdoors saves on your energy bill

Remember the good old days when your bank would actually y give yo ua home equity line of credit? Did you install  an outdoor kitchen? In my case I didn’t install an outdoor kitchen and I didn’t use a HELOC either, but I did buy a gigantic outdoor grill and darn it if we don’t use the heck out of it! About the only meal that doesn’t get cooked on it is breakfast!Mrs. Cobos even found a recipe for making pizza on the grill and I have to say is  it good!

I know there are some things that just have to be cooked inside. Like for example a roast. Not exactly summer eating but man is it yummy and frankly there are some  who call what North Carolinians do to a pork shoulder barbecue but frankly I am not one of them. If you must cook roast inside in the summer, lower and slower is the only way.

Recently I had the urge to  cook a pork shoulder so I covered it in foil, popped it in the oven at 250 degrees at 830 am, went to church and by 3pm it was falling off the bone! The house smelled wonderful and you never could tell the oven was ever on!
