Raleigh Area July 4th Fireworks 2011 Rain Make Up Schedule

If you are like me and have a young family you can appreciate how much effort goes into packing the family into the car for an excursion that will likely keep them out well past the  kids usual bed time.

The Fourth of July is one of those rare occasions that our kids are out of the home past 6pm and they had been eagerly awaiting this outing all week.

Since moving to Raleigh North Carolina four years  ago from Traverse City Michigan we always take in the festivities at Cary’s Koka Booth amphitheatre.

Actually we watch it from the patio balcony overlooking the pond from a fabulous office building on Regency Parkway that used to comprise the sprawling IBM Campus before moving to the Research Triangle Park.

As you know, [which is why you are reading this] even though the weather forecast called for t-storms after midnight,  severe thunderstorms popped up across much of the Triangle area tonight.

According to WRAL here is a list of the cancellations and make up times for tomorrow;

Thunderstorm warnings and strong winds prompted the city of Raleigh to cancel its annual fireworks extravaganza at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds to postpone the event until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Cary officials also called off its celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheater and also rescheduled fireworks for 9 p.m. Tuesday, weather permitting. However, there will be no North Carolina Symphony performance, which had been scheduled for Monday.

The town of Franklinton rescheduled fireworks for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In Durham, fireworks will follow the USA Collegiate Team-Japan baseball game, which was also postponed, Tuesday evening at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The game starts at 6:05 p.m….Read More
