5 Interesting Facts about Martin Luther King Jr.
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively an to think critically . Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education". Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Any second grader can testify that “I have a dream” are his most famous words ever spoken. Yet Dr. King was a prolific speaker and writer of his own speeches often changing them at the last minute even after they had been typed by his secretary. My favorite quote comes from a 6 page single spaced typed Letter that he wrote in longhand from a Birmingham jail cell in 1963 for civil disobedience for “parading without a permit”in which he wrote:
So the question is not whether we will be extremist, but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate, or will we be extremists for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice, or will we be extremists for the cause of justice? – Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., PhD
